Julie Ekoue-Totou:
Julie is known for her “gospels that will blow your mind” (Pac Sun), she performed her one woman show It’s All Greek to Me as a fundraiser for Medical Aid for Africa. She also performed in At Last, a fundraising concert benefiting Better Africa. TheatreNOW stage credits include Buck and Betty’s Chuckhouse of Fun (Anita B. Goode), Nunsense (Hubert), Expiring Minds, Closer than Ever, Heck of a Lotta Singin’, Trailer Trash (2003 Fridge) and Meshugga’ Nuns (Hubert). Her most important and beloved role to date is that of mother to her daughter Olivia.
Dave Estes
When not appearing onstage, Dave is the Volunteer Coordinator and Email Manager for TheatreNOW. Besides his appearances in Buck and Betty’s Chuckhouse of Horror and Trailer Trash: The Musical, Dave was stage manager for Heck of a Lotta Singin’. Having recently obtained his teaching degree from Sonoma State University, Dave teaches earth sciences at a Napa high school.
Kayla Gold
Kayla runs the Kayla Gold Vocal Studio where she teaches voice and theater improvisation. She has been vocal director for several theater productions in Marin County. A published songwriter, Kayla co-wrote the music for TheaterNOW’s Trailer Trash: the Musical with Larry Williams. Her songs have been performed in cabaret shows and concerts by many local artists. Kayla’s performances include The Starlight Club, many productions of Nunsense (Sister Mary Amnesia) and as one-half of the music comedy duo McQuilkin & Goldberg. She has written and performed her own one-woman cabaret shows in Marin venues and in San Francisco’s Plush Room.
Gail Gongoll
Gail received her degree from the University of Minnesota. She performed widely in the metropolitan area before moving to California, in theaters such as The Old Log Theater, The Carlton and the Guthrie. Her Bay area musical theater experience covers nearly 2 decades of stage performance. Some of her favorite roles include Sugar in Some Like it Hot, Eliza in My Fair Lady, Nellie in South Pacific, Sister Leo in Nunsense and Gladys in Trailer Trash: the Musical. In addition to voiceovers, vocal concert appearances, and commercials, she performs annually for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Carl Jordan
Carl Jordan has a B.A. in Musical Theater from San Francisco State University and an A.A. in Dance from College of Marin. He has taught theater at Marin Community Colleges and directs/choreographs musical theater and cabaret productions throughout the greater Bay Area. He owns his own theater production company, has managed the Larkspur Café Theater, been the technical director at various venues, and is currently the Master Carpenter at Marin Shakespeare. For TheatreNOW, he directed Heck of a Lotta Singin’, Belle Voci, Meshugga’ Nuns and the 2006 Cabaret Series; co-directing credits include Buck and Betty and Trailer Trash: The Musical.
April Sorensen
April takes the lead on Theatre Now’s costume design and construction. She studied costume design at College of Marin and University of Hawaii and assisted in costuming the drama and musical productions. She spent a considerable amount of time volunteering at two Novato high schools, costuming for their musical theatre programs for seven years. She also does private costume consultation and construction for individuals in community theatre. Additionally, April is runs the TheatreNOW box office. When she is not busy sewing or taking show reservations, she works as a registered nurse in a surgery center.
Larry Williams
Larry studied theatre and improvisation at Indian Valley College, ACT Young Conservatory, and with Keith Johnstone. He has performed stand-up comedy professionally in San Francisco and the Bay Area, placing in the final top 20 of the S.F. International Comedy Competition. He performed professionally with Loose Change, a comedy improv group, and with Bay Area Theatre Sports. Along with many bay area stage appearances, he has written and directed Buck and Betty’s Chuckhouse of Fun and Chuckhouse of Horror, and Trailer Trash: The Musical.
Kim Williams
Kim majored in Theatre Arts at San Diego State University. She was a member of the improv comedy group Loose Change, and performed with Tutti Frutti Commedia dell Arte Troupe. TheatreNOW stage credits include Trailer Trash: The Musical (Kitty), Buck and Betty’s Chuckhouse of Fun and Chuckhouse of Horror (Betty), Meshugga’ Nuns (Reverend Mother), and The Bella Union Melodeon (Francesca). Other stage credits include Little Shop of Horrors (Audrey) at Novato Players, and Bus Stop (Grace) for Sonoma County Rep.
